I couldn’t help but notice the flickering lighting in Pod 10, Deck 4 isn’t in this advisory. Not that it’s my concern, but someone should probably check the variance sensitivity.
On the list.
I’m sure it is. Along with everything else.

What do you mean he didn’t get on the shuttle? Where is he?
I don’t know! Still on the station? He wasn’t responding to comms and then they told us it was final boarding for the shuttle and I thought maybe he already was on the shuttle but he wasn’t!
@jkap, can we turn the shuttle back around for Ife?
Unfortunately, Lukou is very particular about docking times. We need to negotiate for another docking slot.
How long of a negotiation are we talking about? Minutes? Hours?
Uh, days.
We are scheduled to initiate acceleration in 15 hours and 12 minutes.
Acknowledged.
@jkap
@kenv, figure something out. Shuttle needs about five hours to get to us. Maybe extra if we’re maneuvering into jump position. @…
And bring the current shuttle back. We’ll do another shuttle run for Ife. @dmitri, we need WAN-07 on standby.
Thank you all. I sincerely regret the delay here. I will personally talk to @ifer once he’s back on the ship.
Director, I hope it doesn’t come to this, but I need you to understand that we cannot delay this jump. Transit slots out of Lukou are extremely limited. If we miss our jump, the next window is not for another 24 days, minimum.
We’ll be lucky to get 24. Transit slots out are booked solid for the next year. We can trade for something but it won’t be cheap.
Captain, that is completely unacceptable. A student under my supervision is stranded on a station. We cannot, under any circumstances, leave Ife behind.
Director, the estimated costs of missing this jump are between 120 million to 360 million bits.
@kenv, I need you to be focused on alternative shuttle slots right now, not bankruptcy.
Sorry, on it.
@mokonkwo

I understand the situation, but I cannot leave behind a student under my care. Would you leave behind Maya, Captain?
No, but Ife is not my child. We will do what we can, but we don’t even know where Ife is yet. I need you to make contingency plans.
Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that.
@ship, where’s WAN-07?
Shuttle WAN-07 departed 3 hours and 6 minutes ago.
It wasn’t supposed to.
Acknowledged.
@ship, where is WAN-07 now?
I’m sorry, but I am not authorized to share that information with you.
OK … who took WAN-07?
I’m sorry, but I am not authorized to share that information with you.
Security officer’s override: Who has WAN-07 and where is it now?
Logs state that @chef was the last person to access the shuttle. Destination is unknown. There is no filed itinerary.
@chef, we need that shuttle.
@dmitri
@chef, we need that shuttle.
@chef, now would be a great time to reply to your messages.
Ship time is now 20:00. Now commencing gamma shift.
@mokonkwo Just wanted to inform you that I’ll be taking a brief trip to the Tukkasotka on the next shuttle to meet with its Perceptible Intelligence.
Dr. Crabtree. Today? You’re planning an off-ship visit today.
Yes, well, the opportunity presented itself, and it’s quite rare to have direct access to multiple ship-class PIs in transit.
Dr. Crabtree, we are in the middle of a crisis. One of our students is currently stranded on a station. In fact, @ifer is one of *your* advisees, if I recall correctly.
Oh, that’s unfortunate. But I’m sure you’ll figure it out. The Tukkasotka is traveling with our convoy, so I’ll be back after the next jump.
Your timing is spectacularly poor.
Excuse me?
Oh, it’s that packet I sent you an hour ago. Lesson’s all set. Nothing for you to do except deliver it.
Although, it would be prudent to prepare an independent study packet for @ifer in the event he is unable to return to the ship in time?
I really do not have the bandwidth to deal with this right now. @marikim, can you please handle Dr. Crabtree?
Of course, Director.

Pod 14 atmospheric pressure now nominal.
@dmitri, one of Tukkasotka’s shuttles is scheduled to get here a little before WAN-03 gets back. Does it make sense to borrow one of their’s?
No, if it’s that close, I’d rather just go with WAN-03. Our shuttles are faster.
That’s the plan then. I need your team ready to unload and relaunch WAN-03 as soon as it lands.
Yes, Captain.
@jkap, how much fuel? We can get the shuttle out faster if we assume it’ll have a chance to refuel back at Lukou.
Ugh, it’s a bet either way, but let’s assume it’s going to be a quick in and out. Full load.
Understood.
Alert: Pod 6, Decks 4-6 humidity of 37% below nominal.
@jkap Captain, sorry to intrude, but I’ve been following recent conversations and want to discuss the convoy departure schedule.

@jkap Captain, sorry to intrude, but I’ve been following recent conversations and want to discuss the convoy departure schedule.
Arvin, I know where this is going.
The whole point of this journey to Esmeralda, of taking this particular route, is to beat a crowd. That means we have a window. A very small window. If we miss the jump, that is going to cost me.
Should have gotten that insurance, Arvin.
You know as well as I do, Kenji, that just-in-time manufacturing is not insurable.
I have a student stranded on a station, Mr. Shahmiri. Your production schedule is not my primary concern right now.
For what it’s worth, I’m also on a tight timeline. My meeting at Esmeralda is t:34b571/384.7.1T13:00.
See? It’s not just me.
This is a human being we’re discussing, not cargo.
Attention all crew and passengers: Shuttle WAN-03 inbound from Lukou/路口 Station now arriving in Docking Bay 1.
@mokonkwo
This is a human being we’re discussing, not cargo.
Dr. Okonkwo, I’m not suggesting we abandon anyone. I’m simply stating that we need to be realistic about our options. The student is safe on the station.
Realistic? He’s nineteen years old!
Marion, @ifer is quite capable. And I should note that there is a substantial publication advantage to beating the other Sol-based universities to Esmeralda. A delay would be most unfortunate.
Dr. Crabtree, you are not helpful.
Everyone, please. We are working on a solution.
Captain, with respect, but I really do need to make that meeting. If there are any delays, I need to make alternative arrangements.
You’ll know as soon as I know, Marcus.
