Wait, the sphere is recreational equipment? I’ve been using it for research.
Recreational classification confirmed. Please return it to Pod 9 storage after your research concludes.

Does anyone actually read the shift change announcements or do we all just ignore them at this point?
They’re for the crew. Not sure why passengers also see them.
The announcements are automated. Passengers can see them as well in case you’re trying to reach a particular crew member and want to know when they’re on shift.
Am I supposed to know which crew members are on which shift?
Not really.
That seems like a design flaw.
FSNC Regulation 376:9124-234.5(b)(iii) requires that shift change announcements be visible to passengers.
Is there a backstory to why that regulation exists?
Backstory unknown.
Hello everyone, I’m just letting folks know that we’ve set up some additional cameras in Food Storage. If you don’t want to be recorded, don’t head back there.
ooh stakeout
can I be bad cop
It’s not a stakeout. Just some extra cameras.
right right
for the stakeout
@murat
Hello everyone, I’m just letting folks know that we’ve set up some additional cameras in Food Storage. If you don’t want to be r…
I just want to follow up with a friendly reminder that, as Chief Security Officer, Murat is allowed to designate parts of the ship restricted areas.
And that by entering such area, you consent to being monitored pursuant to either Section 23 of your Carriage Contract, or, if you are a crew member, Section 12(c) of your Employment Contract.
Yes, that is what I’m doing.
@marikim The Perceptible Intelligences in the convoy. They talk to each other!
Yes. I know.
No, I mean they TALK. Beyond operational necessity. Tukkasotka’s PI referenced “our last discussion” with Zalmux. Information it couldn’t have learned from its principal. It completely upends the model!
Yes, Silas. We have a protocol for this. It even takes advantage of convoy jumps to account for supraluminal communication.
You have a protocol for this? Where is it?
No, *we* have a protocol that’s outlined in the joint research plan that you signed off on. And *you* have students to attend to. Will you be back on the next shuttle?
Ah, I need one more week, Marigold. I need to review this protocol and monitor from this side during the next jump. Surely you understand
I understand I’m teaching your courses on top of my own research.
Yes, exactly! Thank you, Marigold. I’ll see you in a week.
Ship time is now 20:00. Now commencing gamma shift.
Does anyone have a spare calibration rod? Lost mine somewhere.
Negative. I am unable to locate your calibration rod.
That’s weird. Don’t you basically observe your entire self?
Negative. I am only instrumented to observe approximately 41.2% of my habitable areas. However, this implies your calibration rod is most likely in the other 58.8%.
Try asking where it last saw the rod.
The last observed location of your calibration rod was in Locker PEL-FE-2B in the Forward Engineering Ring.
But I just checked there!
Acknowledged.
@bryce

@bryce, you can use mine.
Awesome! Thanks Chali!
