Okay. I’ve been through the Esmeralda response set for Professor @marikim, and unlike the Record, this one has fauna. It just doesn’t index them as such.

The original Record focused on things like fold structure, gravity wells, stellar cartography, right? Not really the scale at which life as we know it occurs. And all of that is missing from this one.
But this artifact was sitting on a planet! So what’s there instead is stuff like slope, drainage, light cover. AND distinct vectors tying all of it together in a way that maps pretty closely to how we understand habitability!
The ability to support life isn’t life though? Esmeralda is terraformed. There’s no native fauna.
I know, but there’s another axis sitting on top of the habitability one, and *that* one maps to how much actual life has taken up residence on the terraformed portions of Esmeralda.
It’s … utilization I guess? The utilization of habitable environments: that’s life!
